Summer School Returns to the Faculty After a Five-Year Break
After a five-year hiatus, the Faculty of Education at Palacký University successfully organized a Summer School for international students once again. In collaboration with the Departments of Foreign Languages and Special Education Studies, as well as the Department of Art Education, a total of forty-five students and accompanying teachers from universities in China, Taiwan, and South Korea gathered in Olomouc. From mid-July to mid-August, they engaged not only in academic study but also in various supplementary activities.
Students from Leshan Normal University, Southwest University, Yunnan Normal University, Tunghai University, and Konkuk University attended the faculty after five years. They participated in two-month programs (Fine Arts and Creative Therapies in Education, English Language and Intercultural Communication) and got to know the Czech Republic and its surroundings.
In addition to lectures and seminars, the students had the chance to experience various interesting activities such as visiting a zoo, a rope center, playing bowling, mini-golf, laser games, and even having barbecues. During their stay, they also took several trips to interesting places in the Czech Republic and nearby areas, including a visit to Vienna.
"After the morning classes, students had the opportunity to participate in various leisure activities. The selection was diverse, and since these activities were repeated throughout the program, students could try all of them. Among them were mini-golf, the Fortress of Knowledge, bowling, an aquapark, and the zoo at Svatý Kopeček. However, the most popular activities were the Proud Rope Park and the laser arena. Besides these activities, students were also offered additional voluntary options, which were widely utilized. Noteworthy activities included a karaoke night, a BBQ in the rose garden, and a cycling trip with Nextbike to the Poděbrady swimming pool. Our buddies also provided welcome company during many other evening activities,” described Daniel Ecler, one of the faculty coordinators of the event.
Feedback from the students was very positive, which, according to the organizing team, delighted everyone involved and encouraged them to plan another Summer School for the next academic year.
