With the start of the new academic year, the Faculty of Education at Palacký University Olomouc is opening its doors to more than a hundred international students from all over the world. Around sixty of them are arriving through the Erasmus+ programme for one semester, or for the whole academic year, while others are starting their full Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. studies.
The international students will take part in courses across all departments of the faculty and will contribute to the internationalisation of teaching and student life on campus. Their presence has long been an important part of the faculty’s atmosphere, bringing cultural diversity and new perspectives not only to classes, but also to informal and friendly discussions among other students outside of class which are inspiring for both groups of students.
A university is a global space where different cultures meet, are understood and enrich each other. Thanks to international students, Czech students can experience international community and may find it attractive. If they decide to experience it fully, there is a great number of possibilities from semester-long Erasmus stays in dozens of countries to month-long internships in and outside of Europe. You can find more information on the website of the Office of International Relations and follow our Facebook page.
Palacký University strives to make the process and the stay of international students as smooth and enjoyable as possible, thanks to the Welcome Office. Extracurricular activities are well-organised by ESN UP Olomouc, and we highly recommend following their programme.
Olomouc as a student-friendly city with many comfortable places to study together and spend free time in various ways from exploring culture and history to cosy cafés, bars and student parties, which are of course part of student life.
To make the first steps of our exchange students in Olomouc easier, the faculty is organising an Orientation Day on 24 September from 1 to 2 pm in the auditorium (between rooms N2 and N3). During the session, students will receive essential information about their studies, administrative matters, and practical tips for their stay.
Internationalisation remains one of the priorities of the Faculty of Education, and the increasing number of incoming students each year shows that Olomouc is an attractive place to study and live.
