In the week of 30th September 2025, the Faculty of Education at Palacký University Olomouc proudly celebrated the 10th edition of its International Week, an event that has become a platform for sharing teaching experience, building partnerships, and connecting educators from across Europe and beyond.
This year, the Faculty welcomed guests from Slovakia, Croatia, Poland, Spain, Serbia, Ukraine, and five guests from the United States from four four different statesversities.
We opened the event in a beautiful Corpus Christi Chapel at Art Centre. Dean of the Faculty Vojtěch Regec warmly welcomed all participants. He expressed his honour at opening the event in such a symbolic venue – a place where Palacký University originally began to flourish. He also appreciated the dignity and historical atmosphere that the chapel lent to this occasion.
Following the opening speeches and presentations about Palacký University and the Faculty of Education, participants enjoyed an introduction to Czech life and history, a guided tour of the historical Art Centre, and later a joint dinner at Moritz restaurant, offering a friendly start to the week.
Tuesday featured guest lectures delivered by international academics for students of the Faculty of Education, offering diverse perspectives on education and various areas of their research. In the afternoon, participants were invited to discover the beauty of Olomouc through a city tour guided by one of our student buddies.
The next day was dedicated to an all-day field trip to the historic town of Kroměříž, a UNESCO-listed town known for its gardens and historical architecture. Our guests admired the castle premises, and later the premises of the wine cellars. There we listened about the beginning of the archbishop wine company in the 11th century and experienced a wine tasting.
The last day, visitors had the opportunity to explore two of the Faculty’s partner institutions, including the International School Olomouc and Svatoplukova Primary School. Before lunch, several participants visited DigiDen, the Faculty’s laboratory of educational technologies, where they could try out various tools used at schools.
The closing ceremony was held informally at the dean’s meeting room at the Faculty’s main building. Participants shared their experiences from the week and enjoyed a delicious lunch, including a Czech favourite meal – schnitzel with potato salad.
It was a week full of fruitful conversations, deepening cooperations and designing the new ones, and last but not least, a meeting of friends across universities. We are grateful that our international events are usually held in a laid-back atmosphere, this year was no exception.
