Faculty of Education implements many public educational, popularization and other positive interventions in public life. The individual departments of the Faculty and the communication department are involved in their implementation. Huge number of activities are being carried out at the Faculty – or directly in the field at schools or other places – these reach not only the academic community of the university, but also the wider public, including children and young people.

The Faculty uses not only the traditional formats of lectures, workshops and courses, but also various innovative media formats and web presentations. This is to raise the profile of our professional, artistic and project activities, to promote education, the teaching profession, research, and to act as a leader of change in the field of the various topics highlighted.

These included the popularisation of teaching, pedagogy and science in general, education in the field of healthy lifestyle, the topic of wellbeing and health, common education and education of people with special educational needs, media literacy, prevention of risky behaviours, predominantly in cyberspace, promotion of Czech sign language, financial literacy, etc. The Faculty of Education also offers paid activities – for example, educational courses within the framework of lifelong learning or summer camps and suburban camps for children and youth. Science and Art Days are repeated annually, cultural events, exhibitions and concerts are held throughout the year, and we also regularly prepare a rich programme for our alumni. Many activities that resonate in the public space are continuously prepared by the e-Safety team, whether it was various webinars, workshops, talks and educational events, or tutorials and other methodological materials on digital technologies.

Popularization activities

Afternoon with Science

Afternoon with Science - a series of professional seminars that aim to introduce and expand the area of ​​publication activities and evaluable outputs at the Faculty of Education of UP through well-informed speakers. The seminars touch on the issues of Methodology 17+, types of outputs or principles of indexing within the framework of bibliometric outputs in the WoS and SCOPUS databases. The seminars also introduce the framework of research design, research data management and also focus on setting an optimal publication strategy, including the key topic of publication work, namely publication ethics. The seminars are primarily intended for science and research coordinators at individual workplaces of the Faculty of Education of UP and supervisors of students within doctoral study programs, but they are beneficial for all academic staff of the Faculty. Prominent figures in science and research from the home faculty will appear at the lectern, but we also welcome external guests.

 

Researchers’ Night

An event that, for one evening, brings life to hundreds of science buildings that no ordinary mortal can enter. Visitors pass through laboratories and lecture halls, experience exploding experiments, and learn about hot topics in depth. Everyone with a passion for science – children, adults, and seniors – is welcome. Meet our scientists and they will teach you to love science.

E-Safety

The E-Safety project is a nationwide certified project focused on prevention, education, research, intervention and awareness of risky behavior on the Internet and related phenomena. In recent years, the project has also focused on the positive use of IT in education and everyday life. The basic starting point of the project's activities is field work with various target groups, lectures, preventive educational events, etc. Lectures/discussions map both specific dangerous phenomena and possibilities for prevention and defense against attackers. In addition to educational events, the E-Safety project also carries out regular nationwide research surveys focused on risky communication in online environments, operates an online counseling center, publishes a number of interesting printed materials for students/teachers, popularizes the issue of safe behavior on the Internet, and carries out a number of other activities.

This traditional set of conferences is organized by the Institute of Special Education Studies of the Faculty of Education, Palacký University in Olomouc.

Health day and Christmas and health Conference

The Center for Healthy Lifestyle Research, the Department of Anthropology and Health Sciences, the Department of Primary and Pre-Primary Pedagogy, and the Center for Lifelong Learning of the Faculty of Education organize annual conferences focused on healthy lifestyle and research.

Days of Science and Art

During March, April and May, Faculty of Education regularly organizes Days of Science and Art, during which you can actively participate in interesting lectures, workshops, conferences, as well as guided tours and performances. Traditionally, Days of Science and Art also include a public defense of internal grants, during which research teams consisting of students and academics present the results of their research carried out in the past year. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to meet experts, students and creative personalities.

Children's conference

The conference is intended for primary schools or multi-year grammar schools from Olomouc and the surrounding area. It is prepared by the Faculty of Education in cooperation with the Faculty Primary School Olomouc, Hálkova. The aim is to support children's talents and the desire of young people to share their ideas and scientific, technical or artistic projects.

A mosaic of knowledge

A competitive student conference, which can be attended by students of all study programs implemented at the Faculty of Arts, UP in full-time and part-time forms of study. At the conference, a student, or a student team, presents the results of their scientific and research or creative artistic activities in the form of a conference paper. The work can be theoretical, theoretical-applied, empirical-research or artistic in nature.
