Without realising it, we have been working with applications that use artificial intelligence for decades. Artificial intelligence has been used in medicine, agriculture, banking, various language translators, smart assistants and even internet search engines. A new thematic website has been created at the Faculty of Education of UP, the aim of which is to introduce current and future teachers in a simple and understandable form what artificial intelligence actually is, how it works and how it can be used not only for education.

"The website was created primarily to introduce current and future educators to the possibilities offered by AI tools. Artificial intelligence is already influencing a number of professions and is likely to influence the field of education and Czech education as a whole, so it is necessary to prepare for these changes," says Kamil Kopecký, author of the website.

Generative artificial intelligence models based on large language models (LLM), which include tools such as Chat GPT, Bing Chat and Google Bard, are currently very popular. Users can try out Chat GPT's capabilities directly on the web and test how the AI will respond to their queries.

"We have integrated GPT Chat (the older GPT model in version 3.5-turbo) directly into the website for the demonstration, so visitors don't need to create any accounts to try it out, they can try everything out anonymously," explains Kopecký. He adds, "Many users are already trying out, for example, the ethical boundaries that are integrated into the technology, but also having a lesson preparation or a recipe for mushroom sauce generated."

In addition to the positives, the website also focuses on the risks associated with artificial intelligence. Already, AI tools are being misused for cheating - students can have AI generate reports, essays, reflections, translate text or do a math word problem in seconds. All this is easy and very fast with the help of AI. Czech education and Czech teachers must therefore learn to cope with these situations. Artificial intelligence also does not always communicate true and up-to-date information, sometimes making things up and hallucinating. However, AI language models are constantly improving, becoming more accurate and will make fewer and fewer mistakes in the future.

Want to learn more about artificial intelligence? Not sure where to start? Looking for inspiration? There are many interesting resources on the web - video lectures, expert and popularization texts and more. Read, listen, learn, get inspired! The website will continue to be updated and expanded.

The website can be found at: https://ai.e-bezpeci.cz or https://ai.upol.cz.
